Saved job description

Are you a hands-on leader who thrives on building strong teams and delivering operational excellence? Amazon is looking for a Manager I, Data Center Operations to lead a team of technicians responsible for the day-to-day performance of our critical infrastructure. In this role, you will directly supervise front-line team members, prioritize work across shifting demands, and drive continuous improvement in how we maintain and operate our facilities. Your leadership will have a tangible impact on the reliability and availability that millions of customers depend on every day.

Key job responsibilities

- Lead, coach, and develop a team of data center technicians, including onboarding new hires, conducting regular one-on-one conversations, setting development goals, and providing actionable performance feedback.

- Manage daily facility operations by auditing work queues, monitoring service level agreement adherence, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring safe, efficient completion of maintenance tasks.

- Prioritize and assign work across routine operations, capacity projects, and emergency response, making real-time trade-off decisions between time and resources to meet operational targets.

- Identify and recommend improvements to tools, processes, and procedures that raise quality standards and reduce operational risk, partnering with cross-functional teams to implement solutions.

- Attract, hire, and retain bar-raising talent while maintaining an inclusive team environment where every member feels valued, informed, and connected to the team's mission.

A day in the life

Your morning may begin with a shift handoff, reviewing overnight tickets and aligning your team on the priorities ahead. You will walk the data center floor, checking equipment health and verifying that safety protocols are followed. Throughout the shift you will coach technicians through troubleshooting scenarios, approve maintenance procedures, and escalate issues that need broader support. Between operational tasks you will hold one-on-ones, update capacity trackers, and collaborate with partner teams on upcoming projects.

About the team

Our team keeps Amazon's data center infrastructure running reliably and safely around the clock. We operate in a fast-paced environment where collaboration, technical curiosity, and a commitment to continuous improvement are part of everything we do. As we continue to grow, we are focused on building an inclusive culture that empowers every team member to contribute ideas and develop their careers. Joining us means being part of a mission that directly supports the services customers rely on worldwide.

Requirements: - 2+ years of operations and on-call support for data center facilities, mission critical plants, or production facilities experience

- 4+ years of Information Technology (IT) experience, or Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent

- 2+ years of people management experience
