Saved job description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Do you have the passion to work in the AWS Water industry with a focus on water stewardship and sustainability efforts? Do you have the industry background, technical depth, and business development skills needed to help further establish AWS as the leader in the water industry?

Amazon is seeking a self-starter to join the AWS Water team in pioneering the future for data center water supply in how AWS delivers water projects and partners with water utilities/companies across the United States.

In this role, you will support the delivery of large-scale, technically complex water infrastructure projects across multiple geographies in the central and southern US regions, collaborating closely with both internal and external stakeholders. Internally, you will contribute to project management, engineering, and reporting (status, risks, mitigations, and successes) to the project team and leadership, while coordinating with multiple cross-functional partner teams across the data center water delivery process. Externally, you will help maintain utility relationships and support contracting with utilities and/or the Owner's Engineer. You will be part of an integrated team delivering a fast-scaling portfolio of water infrastructure projects that meets and exceeds AWS' water program requirements — helping deliver projects on time, with tangible reliability and cost-saving results.

The ideal candidate will have a technology background with demonstrated experience delivering infrastructure, working with utilities and earning customer trust.

Key job responsibilities

- Support the development and execution of our water supply and infrastructure strategy for AWS data centers in multiple parts of the Americas.

- Support the planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects that bring water supply and treatment to AWS data centers.

- Work collaboratively with Amazon Infrastructure teams to support the development of strategic water sourcing opportunities for large-scale, multi-year development projects.

- Assist with coordinating external engineering consultants, general contractors, and water/wastewater vendors through feasibility, design, and construction phases.

- Assist with developing and negotiating terms for water and wastewater supply contracts and utility connection agreements with public and private utilities.

- Work with local water and wastewater utilities to coordinate site utility requirements, inspections, and compliance with federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes.

- Project manage water projects against plans, schedule, and budget to ensure commitments are met, contributing to reliability and cost-savings goals.

- Be a passionate self-starter.

- Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.

- Up to 20% travel requirements for project planning/delivery.
