Building the people that build the world.
With platforms in HVAC and Detection and Measurement, SPX Technologies builds innovative solutions that enable a safer, more efficient, sustainable world. Through our RiSE talent development framework, we Reach, Identify, Strengthen, and Engage our employees to support them in their continued development. We're a global company of problem solvers, collaborators, and innovators, and our businesses build solutions that impact the world.
Ingenia Technologies, part of SPX Technologies’ HVAC Segment, is a North American leader in highly engineered custom air handling solutions featuring fast & flexible designs, precision automated manufacturing, and multiple options to meet customer needs for life sciences and other mission-critical applications. With manufacturing facilities in Mirabel, Quebec and Madison, Alabama, Ingenia designs and builds highly specialized systems where performance, energy efficiency, and air quality matter most. At Ingenia, you’ll join a team that solves complex challenges and builds infrastructure that truly makes an impact.
The function of the position is to lead the implementation and sustainment of a Lean Production System that improves safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and flow across manufacturing operations. The Continuous Improvement Engineer partners directly with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and front-line employees to identify and eliminate waste, reduce variation, improve labor efficiency, and establish repeatable production processes. The role uses Lean methods including value stream mapping, standard work, takt time and line balancing, 5S, visual management, daily management, Kaizen, PDCA/A3 problem solving, SMED, and Total Productive Maintenance to improve production-line performance. The incumbent will develop performance standards, facilitate improvement events, coach teams in Lean thinking, and use data to verify that improvements deliver measurable and sustainable results. Key criteria include strong analytical and facilitation skills, practical manufacturing knowledge, disciplined problem solving, effective change leadership, and the ability to drive actions to closure across multiple functions.
ACTIVITIES/TASK/SCOPE
Lead the implementation and sustainment of the site Lean Production System, including standard work, visual management, daily accountability, tiered performance reviews, and leader standard work.
Analyze production processes to identify waste, constraints, bottlenecks, imbalance, excess motion, waiting, rework, overprocessing, and other opportunities to improve flow and labor efficiency.
Apply Lean tools including Kaizen, PDCA/A3, value stream mapping, 5S, standard work, takt time, line balancing, one-piece flow, pull/Kanban, SMED, TPM, and root cause analysis.
Facilitate Kaizen events and rapid improvement workshops; define the problem, establish baseline performance, implement countermeasures, and verify sustained results.
Partner with production leaders and front-line employees to improve workstation layout, material presentation, point-of-use storage, ergonomics, and overall process flow.
Establish and maintain visual performance management for key production metrics such as productivity, labor efficiency, cycle time, takt attainment, first pass yield, WIP, lead time, and schedule attainment.
Use data analysis and direct observation at the gemba to identify performance gaps, prioritize improvement opportunities, and quantify financial and operational benefits.
Coach supervisors, engineers, technicians, and operators in Lean principles, structured problem solving, waste identification, and continuous improvement behaviors.
Drive corrective actions and countermeasures to closure and establish control plans, audits, or standard work necessary to sustain gains.
Maintain a prioritized continuous improvement project pipeline and communicate project status, results, risks, and next actions to plant leadership.
Benchmark best practices across operations and help standardize successful Lean methods across production areas.
