- Identify and analyze the cross-functional tradeoffs between design alternatives, including impact on performance, schedule, cost, risk, complexity, and scale

- Break down and frame problems using con-ops, use cases, structural/functional decompositions, and other system representations to clarify needs and align technical teams

- Identify design choices to ensure our products are safe, reliable, and usable, and can be deployed and supported at Amazon scale

- Build quantitative models and analyses (Excel, MATLAB, Python, internal tools) to conduct trade studies, refine requirements, and understand key system drivers across the integrated systems of systems

- Perform technical risk assessments (such as TRL, Gap Analysis, FMEDA, HARA, etc.), devise mitigation plans, and create system test strategies

- Develop and communicate system integration and evaluation strategies and plans in support of program learning, technical risk reduction, verification, and validation

- Drive and prioritize execution of system test campaigns that span lab and field testing environments in collaboration with subsystem development and test teams (test readiness reviews, test execution, post-test analysis and reporting)

- Guide and inform, via analyses, cross-functional architecture definition

- Mentor junior engineers in engineering best practices, and participate in hiring of new team members

Requirements: - Bachelor's degree or above in engineering or equivalent STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) field

- 7+ years of professional experience

- Experience with eliciting and clarifying business and end user needs, and connecting those needs to system concepts, requirements, and designs

- Experience leading technical collaborations and creating alignment across diverse groups (e.g. hardware engineering, software engineering, controls, functional safety, program management)

- Experience identifying and analyzing dependencies, tradeoffs, and sensitivities across multi-disciplinary systems
