Saved job description
CloudWatch Logs is one of the highest-scale logging services at AWS, trusted by millions of customers to reliably capture, store, and protect their operational and security logs. We operate large, multi-region distributed systems handling an enormous volume of data every day.
We're looking for a Software Development Engineer to help us build and scale these systems. You'll work on hard distributed-systems problems and on the customer-facing features that enterprises depend on, with a mix of deep design work and raising the operational bar so the team spends less time firefighting and more time building.
Key job responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate high-scale distributed services within CloudWatch Logs.
- Tackle real scaling and reliability challenges across large fleets and high-throughput data paths.
- Improve operational excellence by driving systemic fixes that reduce recurring issues and improve customer experience.
- Partner with PMs, tech leads, and other teams to deliver customer-facing capabilities.
About the team
AWS values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the preferred qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply. If your career is just starting, hasn’t followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don’t let it stop you from applying.
Requirements: - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience

- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
