Saved job description

Intuit is hiring a Senior AI Scientist to join the Intuit Foresight team.

The Foresight team at Intuit develops and incubates emerging technologies, user experiences, capabilities and products that have the potential to be transformative to businesses and consumers. The AI Research team's mission is to do cutting-edge research in AI topics that directly influence Intuit's portfolio of fintech offerings and position Intuit as a global leader in AI.

In this role, you will bridge research and product by taking advanced AI methods, from foundational language models and agentic systems to reasoning and decision-support capabilities, and translating them into production-quality AI solutions that serve Intuit's 100M+ customers. You will work closely with the AI Research Scientists on the team, applying and adapting their research to real-world financial AI use cases across TurboTax, QuickBooks, Credit Karma, and Mailchimp.

We are seeking candidates with strong applied expertise in NLP, large language models, agentic AI systems, post-training and fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation, and production ML systems, combined with sufficient research depth to read, evaluate, and build on cutting-edge methods from the team's research pipeline.

You will join a high-caliber team of domain experts, data scientists, and machine learning engineers to shape our strategy in this area, and develop advanced capabilities that serve our customers’ needs, both current and future.

Responsibilities

Applying and adapting cutting-edge AI research from the team's pipeline into scalable,  production-ready AI capabilities for Intuit's financial products

Building, fine-tuning, and evaluating large language models for domain-specific financial AI applications, including post-training (SFT, RLHF), prompt engineering, and model optimization

Designing and implementing agentic AI systems with multi-step reasoning, tool use, and structured decision-making for real-world customer workflows

Developing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines and knowledge-grounded systems for financial document understanding and question answering

Building evaluation frameworks for non-deterministic AI systems, including LLM-as-judge pipelines, rubric-based assessment, and automated regression testing

Collaborating with AI Research Scientists, product managers, designers, and engineers to translate scientific AI methods into customer-facing capabilities across Intuit's product portfolio

Curating task-specific datasets, defining success metrics, and running experiments to validate model improvements in production settings

Embedding AI agents into science and engineering workflows, including experiment orchestration, hyperparameter search, and simulation-based validation

Qualifications

MS or PhD (preferred) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field with focus on AI/ML/NLP

3+ years of industry experience building and deploying ML/AI systems in production environments

Strong hands-on expertise with large language models, including fine-tuning (SFT, LoRA, RLHF/GRPO), prompt engineering, and inference optimization

Experience building agentic AI systems, multi-agent pipelines, or tool-use workflows

Proficiency in Python with PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, or similar deep learning frameworks

Experience with NLP techniques including text generation, summarization, information extraction, and semantic search

Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation, knowledge graphs, or structured data reasoning

Track record of translating research methods into production-quality systems that deliver measurable customer or business impact

Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
