Saved job description

The Stores Economics and Science (SEAS) team is a Stores wide interdisciplinary science and economics team with a peak jumping mission: we apply expertise in science and engineering to move from local to global optima in methods, models, and software. We pursue this mission by leveraging frontier science, collaborating with partners across Amazon, and learning from the tools, experience, and perspective of others. Our approach involves solving problems first at a small scale to prove concepts, and then scaling successful solutions to drive broad impact.

Economics and emerging machine learning (ML) remain the two key focus areas for our team. Emerging ML represents the interdisciplinary connective tissue of SEAS. We use this focus area to keep our tools sharp by keeping up with the state of the art in ML, causal sciences, and experimentation; and to perform transfer learning across fields through applied work in collaboration with top scholars in those fields.

Key job responsibilities

As a Software Engineer, you will collaborate with the top scholars, economists, machine learning scientists and other SDEs across the company to develop, test, and deploy services that implement a wide range of econometric and machine learning models for some of the most confidential projects at Amazon. This requires the use of sophisticated distributed systems, the processing and visualization of Big Data and application of advanced ML techniques. A successful candidate should have a passion for innovation, interest in technology, and excitement about working in a high-impact domain.

Requirements: - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- Experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics or natural language processing
